GEMS Cloud

GEMS Cloud is a cloud-based version of the same GEMS suite you know and love. GEMS Cloud is monitored and maintained by the Gillett Publishing team, relieving you of the cost and trouble of managing your desktop GEMS installation! More importantly, GEMS Cloud incorporates the same user interface as GEMS, simplifying the transition to the cloud.

Existing GEMS Cloud Users

If you're a supervisor of an existing GEMS Cloud subscription, you can view and manage your subscription at the GEMS Cloud Supervisor Portal.

GEMS Cloud Data Privacy and Security

GEMS Cloud was designed and implemented with your firm's data security and privacy needs as its top priority. We require that you store your data files on your network or local computers to alleviate any concerns about the security of cloud storage. Your firm’s own firewalls and safeguards will protect your clients’ confidential information. GEMS Cloud never stores your firm's data permanently in the cloud, and the data files are encrypted before they are transferred to the cloud and remain encrypted until they are returned to your storage device. Why License GEMS Cloud?

There are many advantages of using GEMS Cloud, including:

• You are assured that the GEMS modules are always current.
• You avoid the challenges and frustrations of managing a desktop installation of GEMS.
• GEMS Cloud resolves speed issues that may currently occur when accessing GEMS remotely using Citrix or other complex remote access applications.
• Remote workers can access GEMS from any location if they also have access to the data files.

Licensing GEMS Cloud

To license GEMS Cloud, you must already have a GEMS single or multiple user license. GEMS Cloud is only available as an option for your current GEMS license. Licensing GEMS Cloud does not preclude your firm from using the original desktop installation version of GEMS. In other words, remote workers may use the cloud version while others use the desktop installed version. Beginning with the 2023 edition of GEMS, GEMS Cloud permits you to access ALL of your previously licensed versions of GEMS in the cloud.

If you license GEMS Cloud, your firm will purchase a specific number of "seats" which represent the number of concurrent users that can access GEMS Cloud. For example, if your firm has 10 professionals that use GEMS, but you only expect a maximum of 6 to be using GEMS at the same time, your firm should purchase 6 seats. All 10 professionals will be able to create their own login credentials, but only 6 would be able to access GEMS Cloud at the same time. This does not preclude additional professionals from using a desktop installation of GEMS.

Licensing Fees
Each GEMS Cloud seat costs $50 per month and must be licensed in six month increments. This is the same amount that our cloud host charges Gillett Publishing for a seat. A cloud license only authorizes professionals in a licensed GEMS office to use the cloud version.

GEMS Cloud for Single User Licenses
If your firm has only purchased a single user license, your firm will only be able to purchase one cloud seat. This will enable one member of your firm to use GEMS Cloud at any given time. One additional user will be able to use the desktop installation of GEMS simultaneously.

GEMS Cloud for Multi-User Licenses
If your firm has a multiple user license, you can purchase an unlimited number of seats, remembering that only professionals in offices that have licensed the desktop version of GEMS can access GEMS Cloud.
